Hi! I'm Kathryn Wismer, proud owner of Wiz Bee Honey. 🐝
In 2021, after 30+ years of retail and business management experience, I made the shift to full time Beekeeper and business owner.
I have always had a curiosity about honey bees and beekeeping. When I started mentoring with @willybeehoney, Bill Barber, my curiosity became a passion. I am now a registered member of the Ontario Beekeeping Association (OBA) and Wiz Bee Honey is my sole focus. I love to give bees a safe place to live, doing my small part to help the environment and teaching and inspiring future bee lovers!
As of May 2025, I manage four different bee yards in the Durham Region, including one at Pingles Farm in Hampton and one at Pegasus Animal Sanctuary in Port Perry. My Interactive Workshops allow you the chance to visit one of my apiaries and learn up close and personal with my bees.

I'm also passionate about supporting other female-owned and operated local businesses. To help do so, I've created The Hive. It is a community of support, growth and meaningful partnership. So far, this has lead to a number of events co-hosted with other local female entrepreneurs. As The Hive grows, I will look to create more opportunities for connection and support. I am proud to be a Balanced Beekeeper. Balanced beekeeping is all about respecting the hive. Compared to other approaches, more time is spent observing the bees, and honey harvesting is slower. I don’t aim to extract every possible drop of honey from a hive. My main goal is to support the hive.
